Exploring the Spectrum of Laser Lighting Colors

In general terms, spectrum of lighting refers to the range of wavelengths within the electromagnetic spectrum that are emitted or reflected by a source of light. We have seven (7) sources of visible light; the sun, the incandescent light bulb, the fluorescent, the halogen, the LED, the laser and the HID or the high-intensity discharge. In this article, we will be exploring the spectrum of lighting colors in lasers. This will give us a better understanding of its spectrum and will help us determine its light characteristics, its color composition and its impact in various applications.

Laser emits a visible spectrum and its light can be perceived by the human eye, approximately from 380 to 750 nanometers. It encompasses color from violet to red which makes it possible for us to see these wide ranges of colors.  However, laser party lights commonly use red, green and blue (RGB) lighting colors for several reasons:

  1. Color Mixing

Basically, RGB is a primary color model. The combination of different intensities of red, green and blue light allows for a wide spectrum of colors. By adjusting the intensity of each color, laser party lights can produce dynamic patterns, extensive palette and vibrant visual effects.

  1. Full Color Spectrum

Since red, green and blue are primary colors of light, their combination  can produce any color in the visible spectrum. By utilizing these primary light colors, it enables the laser party lights to achieve a broad range of hues making it easier for us to match various party themes and moods.

  1. Visual Appeal

Laser lights are inherently bright and intense. It contributes to a lively and energetic party ambiance especially in dark or dimly lit spaces. Since laser lights can be modulated to create dynamic effects such as pulsating, strobing and/or moving patterns, these effects when synchronized with music, enhances the overall visual entertainment for the attendees. The unique nature of laser lights also contributes to its aesthetic appeal which matches the theme of the event.

While there are more other sources of lights that can be used as lighting equipment, laser lights obviously exceed our expectations because of its adaptability and continuous development with the advancement of the technology. Its ability to produce vivid colors, intense brightness, dynamix effects and overall futuristic aesthetic creates a visually captivating experience for partygoers.
